custom printed posters
By using custom posters for marketing and advertising you can tell potential clients about your store and where it is located. Let them know about forthcomming sales you are having. Custom printed posters are real workhorses for advertising.
When using a custom printed poster to advertise a business you need to remember just a few important things. First, keep it simple. some businesses like to have an entire story on their custom printed posters but keeping it simple is much more effective. You only have sconds to attract passers by. You want to keep it simple enough so people who pass by can see it and understand what you are trying to convey to them. Potential customers pass by for only seconds and you need to attract their attention in that small amount of time. So one or two words are what you really want to use. Perhaps a picture of a product or something that will catch their eye can be used. Words like sale or free works rather well on custom posters that are used for advertising.
Another tool you will want to use for your advertising custom poster would be color. Colors that will pop are great to use. Colors like reds, or blues, or even white. Colors that are on a black back ground and can be seen easily work very well. Also neon colors like greens and yellows work great. You want to pick colors that contrast each other. Using colors that blend together would not work at all. They may look pretty together but you want to attract attention from potential customers.
Using custom printed posters for advertising your business works wonderfully. However there are other ways to use your custom printed posters. You can use a custom poster as large pictures for special occasions. For instance if a sports team has just won a trophy or some kind of award you may want to make a custom banner of the whole sports team for the celebration. Or if there is a special birthday or a wedding anniversary you may decide to use a custom poster. There are many ways to use a custom poster. To make an enlarged picture for someone makes for a great way to remember the special occasion.
To make a custom poster you can choose to design it your self or have a professional do it for you. If you are paying someone to do it then you must give them the information you want to convey to people. If you are making it your self you need to find the equipment needed. Most people will choose to go to a store like Kinko’s or print the items up for themselves on their home computers. Many home computers and the printers used are quite capable of making a custom poster these days. but quality and size will be far better using an approved large format print supplier.

Custom Vinyl Banners
Custom vinyl banners are actually large billboards that are placed outside a business or in high traffic areas where thay are used to draw the attention of potential customers. Small quantities of vinyl banners are usually printed using large format inkjet printers. The material used is also usually a heavy weight material of vinyl (also known as PVC). After the image is printed on the vinyl eyelets are fitted in the banner so making it easy to erect
.
A business can use these Custom Vinyl banners anywhere. They may be used for advertising for business, taken to a golf days or product launch events. They may also be used when going to a trade show or some kind of fair to promote the business. Custom vinyl banners may also popular with schools and colleges to promote open days , fundraising events or sports days. There are many people who may use vinyl banners not just a business although that is the most popular use for them.
When using custom vinyl banners for advertising it is important to remember that there are a few key elements when creating one that must be followed. The most important would be to keep it simple. The need to fit everything you want to say about your business may overwhelm you but keep it simple. When a potential customer walks by your shop or business you have about 2-3 seconds to catch their attention enough to draw them into your place of business. If they are walking or driving by it is hard for the potential customer to read all kinds of little fine print things like the address, or see a map, or a phone number. Just keep it simple. Use large words that will attract someone immediately. Use words like free, sale, discount, and grand opening. Phrases like that will grab the potential customer’s attention and bring them in.
You will also want to use vibrant colors. There is a reason you always see a lot of black and neon like colors on these vinyl banners. Those colors are used because they are attention getting colors. By using only a few colors you will make the sign simple and not confusing to anyone.
Too many colors will loose the attention of someone passing by. So only choose two to three colors to use and stick with them. Also pick colors that contrast each other well.
Use colors that will give your signage an impact.
Vinyl banners play an important role in today’s advertising market. They are seen all over the place. Walking down the street you can guarantee that you will see several of them. To use them to promote your business is a wonderful idea. Just remember the most important rule of vinyl banners. You must keep it simple. Do not add anything that is unnecessary to the sign. Just simple phrases and bold, eye attracting colors. Grab the potential customer’s attention before they pass by your shop. Get them into your store. Simple phases, simple words. By using these techniques for your vinyl banner you can assure yourself a great way to advertise for your business.

TOP 10 GRAPHICS PANEL TIPS
You have only got seconds to attract passers by onto your exhibition stand. Your Exhibition Graphics can be the real showstopper. They need to be eye-catching, professional and informative. Here are a few hints and tips on how to get the best results with your large format trade show graphics
KEEP IT SHORT AND SWEET
As we said you only have seconds to grab visitors attention. As a rule of thumb if the headline on your graphics panel takes more than three seconds to read there's too much text much. Use a punchy headline of about 6 words. Once you have grabbed their attention extra text can be used on the graphics panels to sell your business or annotate pictures but still keep in mind less is more.
USE THE RIGHT WORDS
Like all forms of marketing and advertising push the benefits of your products or service. What's in it for them! Benefits attract buyers. Tell trade show visitors how your product or service will help them 'Cuts trade show costs by 20 percent' "double your profits" or why not try a trade show special offer? "sign up today and get a free widget"
TYPE THAT IS TOO SMALL
Some of your graphics panels will be at the back of your stand so even on a small shell scheme passers by will be over 3m away. As a guide text needs to be 25mm high for every 1m your away. If your headlines are enticing enough visitors may move closer to read smaller detailed text so make sure your headlines are big enough.
FANCY FONTS
Keep it simple. Don't get too creative with fancy fonts. Keep headlines easily readable. Font like Times might be a bit boring but there must be a reason news papers use this style of serif font. Another good idea is to limit the number of fonts you use too many different styles make it look messy and are hard to read. Keep it just to a couple
POOR USE OF COLOURS
Avoid dark colours on dark backgrounds and light colours on light backgrounds. It gets trickier if your going to overlay text on a photographic background so take care. What looks fine on your computer monitor might not work when it's printed and on show under the lights on an exhibition stand. If your not sure ask your graphics company for advice and a printed proof.
HIDDEN GRAPHICS
You could have a stunning graphic but if it is hidden from view at the back of your stand behind a desk of product demonstration it’s wasted. When your planning your stand take into consideration where to place you graphics for maximum impact. And it’s not just equipment bear in mind if your stands a successful hopefully you’ll have plenty of visitors milling around. Consider placing your headlines at the top of your graphics panels so they can be seen above peoples head.
TOO MANY IMAGES
Images are great and now a days large format digital printing makes one off images affordable. But just like text keep it simple too many images can start to loose impact and look a bit messy. One high quality image can add real impact and get your message across at a glance.
POOR QUALITY
Two issues regarding quality. Firstly how good is the graphics company you are using and secondly how good is the artwork your sending them.
“Qulaity in Quality out“. Large format digital printers are capable of producing stunning photo realistic images but if you send them a poor image chance are you’ll get a poor graphics panels back.
If you present a poor image on your trade show stand how can your prospective client trust you to good a good job for them? A good graphics company will give you clear guidelines about how to provide the best artwork for large format digital print output. I would also expect them to call you and let you know if they think that the artwork will not be good enough quality. Many don’t they will simply print what you give them. If your not sure and have the time you could ask for a smaller test print. If in any doubt call them up and ask for an assurance that the image is good enough.
No photos are better than poor quality low resolution images. You only get one chance to make a good impression. If you need an image to sell your products, contact the manufacturers, do a photo shoot, try to find a high enough resolution picture from an image library.
POOR LIGHTING
You could have the best graphics in the world but if the lighting is poor your graphics make look poor too. Often you will not know what light quality to expect in a trade show exhibition hall so why not take your own?
Most portable display stand companies sell lighting. 200 watt halogen flood lights are popular for use on pop up exhibtion stands. To get an even spread of light you need to place your lights about 1m apart. Down lighting works better than uplighting unless your trying to create a specific effect.
LOOK AFTER YOUR GRAPHICS PANELS
Look after your investment. Graphics require carefully handling to avoid marks scratches and dents that can give a poor impression. Discuss your requirements with the graphics company they can advise you on the most suitable material for the job. A poster for a one day indoor event doesn’t need to be as durable (or expensive!) as a display panel to be used in your showroom. Extra durability can be provide by having your graphics laminated. Laminate protects the surface of the graphics from scratches, sticky fingers and liquid spills. Matt laminated also has the added benefit of preventing reflection from lights in and exhibition hall.
If your handling large panels get someone to help. It’s easy to dent or damage a corner trying to manouver graphics panels on your own. Be carefull packing and un packing your graphics. After a long show when everyone wants to rush off it’s easy just to chuck the graphics in a case. A little bit of extra time can save money and the hassell of reordering new graphic for the next show.

Computer Controlled Cutter
The increase in speed means bottle necks in sign makers and print shops is moving. At http://www.digital-display-printing.co.ukwe experienced a bottle next in artwork preparation and design. Investment in faster MAC equipment helped but ultimately the only solution is bums on seats.
Once that problem was solved there were potentially 3 other bottle necks in the large format printing department. Capacity of large format digital printers, Laminating printed graphics such as exhibition graphics, trade show panels and posters and finally finishing.
Large format printing capacity. Two options available run shifts (if you can find the staff!) Buy more machines, invest in faster machines. We choose the latter option because staff like a life, we are short on space and the new large format digital printing machines from HP not only offer much faster digital print speeds but also offer better print quality lower running costs and pigment based archival inks. The new inks and a wide range of new media means that large format printers can look at opening up new markets. Fine art, Canvas printing, UV stable window graphics, advertising banners, indoor posters, backlight graphics……..
With new designers and the latest HP large format graphics printers the bottle neck shifted to laminating. While there was less requirement to laminate and encapsulate graphics because of the more durable pigment inks the new HP printers offer an additional 50% print capacity. This one is easily solved with a new seal wide format laminator. A reliable industrial strength tool ideal for finishing off banner stand graphics, pop up exhibition graphics, trade show boards, point of purchase displays.
Now the bottle neck becomes finishing. One of the downsides to roll to roll large format printing is the need to trim the print to size once they are finished. Unlike screen printing where you are often printing finished panel size or have a lay up mark making guillotine cutting an option traditionally finishing large format digital print has been by hand. As large format printers get faster it becomes much harder to keep up with the output.
Our solution was to invest in a Zund flat bed automatic camera controlled cutter. The zund large format graphics cutter uses an automatic vision registration compensation system which means pre-printed graphics such as vinyl sign banners, custom printed posters, stickers, and decals can be square cut contour cut or kiss cut with amazing precision.
The cutter is capable of contour cutting everything from paper posters and flexible pvc banners to rigid display panels up to 5mm thick. The extra router attachment makes easy work of 10mm foamex display boards. It has a massive 3m x 1.8m cutting bed plenty big enough to accommodate large retail displays and trade show boards.
From the sign makers or large format printers point of view it saves time, waste and offer better accuracy than even the most experienced person time and time again. The client gets improved quality, faster delivery and potentially lower cost for all types of large format print that requires finishing.
Graphics finishing is only one of many industries that the large format cutter is suitable for. I’m sure as the months go by we will find many new uses that can lead to new innovate display products so watch this space.

Sign Show UK large format printers
Plenty to see but of most interest were the direct to substrate large format printers. In particular the 250GT from OCE , The new Mimaki and a Du Pont printer. Each has benefits and disadvantages but all open up a hugh range of new posibilities to the sign maker. Posters, banners, hoardings, signs, plus more obscure ideas such as customised golf balls. key fobs ar even doors! Buing a printer seems to be the easy part marketing the large format out put is another matter. From the point of view of exhibition panels and trade show graphics what benefits do these direct to panel large format UV printers offer. The obvious benefit from a large format printers point of view is the labour saving. There is no need to laminate then mount the print to board and cut round it. Simply put an a pre cut board of the correct size and press print. Sound too good to be true? The downside I would say is the quality. The OCE arizona scored on quality followed closley by the Mimaki. ( the Du Pont printer we looked at has more industrial heads and is designed to produced "signage" quality at higher speeds) . I would say that at the moment the quality produced by a HP or Epson watrer based printer is still the way to go for high quality photo realistic exhibition and trade show panels . All the printers we saw were new to market so with some fine tuning the quality may improve. Watch this space.

Exhibition Stands from the Far East
More and more trade show displays and exhibition stands are coming into the UK from the Far east. The scare mongers out there who find it hard to competed on price will try to convince you that these cheap imports are rubbish. What the truth? Before we sell any product regardless of it's origin we test all display stands including banner stands and pop ups are. Exhibition equipment need to be above all reliable so our display equipment is rigorously tested before we offer anything for sale.
We have tested many products from the Far East over the last couple of years and yes there have been some serious quality issues with some of the samples we have been sent. But among all these display stand samples there have been some really well engineered products. But there have also been some great display products which have gone on to be best sellers and offer clients reliable service show after show. Pop up stands, banner stands, folding stands and I'm sure there will be more to come.
Our policy which has stood us in good stead is to sell the best value products that offer total reliability regardless of there country of origin. That way clients get the best products at the best price.
Online Banner Design
I'm not sure how popular the service will be but doing beta tests on the site it's very easy to use and good fun. For those too busy or not of a creative bent we will still be offering a full customisation service.
Our design facility will be up and running in the next couple of weeks.
I'll keep you posted.

5 Quick Exhibition Tips
1. Respect and give attention to all visitors at your stand. You should use the same philosophy as, “the customer is always right.” What that implies is that anyone visiting your stand should be given respect and attention. Showing disrespect or ignoring them will not yield the results you desire. There are many different types of people that come to exhibitions. Ensure that you don’t simply ignore certain demographics (like seniors, for example). Every person is important, so seek out the people who are wandering in the aisles and are not getting attention from anyone else. Talking to them and giving them respect is a great way to get them to remember your message.
2. Adjust to the types of visitors you will have. A great “pitch” can work wonders, but if the same pitch is used on media, buyers, advertising sales staff, specifiers, consultants, and all other visitors it will simply not be effective. Adjust your pitch to the type of visitor you are dealing with. Does an old person looking to buy your product care if Jessica Simpson endorses it? Does a young person want a job that is good for seniors? Keep these types of questions in mind when talking to your visitors.
3. Go after actual leads at the exhibition. Some exhibitors believe very strongly that they need to get “names” at an exhibition. This could not be more untrue. Names are not important; actual leads are. Actual qualified leads are visitors that have the capability to fulfill an organizational objective (such as a sale or job interview) and whom you have enough information about so you can respond to them specifically after the exhibition. It wouldn’t make sense to send a sales letter to a job applicant and a job application to a member of the media. Having accurate information about your visitors (besides just their names) is paramount.
4. Time limits should always be set. There will be many people visiting your stand. You cannot spend a great amount of time on one person, because then others will be neglected. Every person visiting is important and should thusly be given a due amount of consideration. A five-minute time limit for dealing with a visitor is a good idea. It ensures that the exhibition keeps moving, and that your specific stand does not get clogged up with too many people at once.
5. Follow up on your exhibition leads! This may seem like a no-brainer, but many people take the time and effort to set up a beautiful exhibition and do not follow up on their leads. Why even set up a stand if you won’t use the information you acquire? Exhibition stands are great ways to help the success of your company, so use your information wisely.

Exhibition stand hire
If you're a first-time exhibitor or you only intend to exhibit once it might be worth hire of your exhibition stand hardware. As many as 35 percent of first-time show exhibitors only exhibit once.
If you intend to exhibit more than once purchase could be a more cost effective route to go. Exhibition stand hire V purchase also depends on what type of equipment you are considering buying. Could you use it else where in your organization? A pop up stand in your reception, a banner stand or literature rack in your showroom.
A wide range of portable exhibition displays are available for rental, pop up stands, banner stands and perhaps the most popular item pole and panel.
One benefit of display trade show equipment hire is that you have more money to add real impact with graphics. A simple hired panel system can be transformed into a show stopper using graphics. Once the shows over keep the graphics and use them again.
If you decide to hire your trade show display equipment, book it early. As soon as you know the date of your trade show, you should get in touch with the display rental company and discuss what you need and the dates you'll be exhibiting. That way you can be assured of the availability of your exhibition stand.

Product Demonstrations
Exhibitions and trade shows are the ideal occasion to launch new products and demonstrate them to your visitors. You spent a great deal of time and money on your stand to launch a new product how do you make sure the demonstration goes smoothly.
What are the main benefits of your product. What problem will it solve for your clients? Once you have established this how can you demonstrate this feature in 3 minutes or less? Come up with a few ideas then test them. Which works best? What will impress the customer the most but also be easily repeatable with the minimum chance of it going wrong.
You must have seen product demonstrations go wrong. It can happen but the best way to avoid it is keep the demonstration simple and test it over and over again before the show.
Once you’re at the show run through the demonstration again before visitors start to turn up. Also consider having a back up product, just in case!
The best demonstrations are appealing visually, simple and often hands on. Giving the prospect the chance to try the product themselves can be the deal clincher.
Problems can happen so have a contingency plan rather than struggling on. Planning Prevents Poor Performance!

Plan your stand
How much space are you going to need or can you afford. Where's the best sport in the hall? What staff will you need. When deciding all these issues remember your goals. If you are selling products direct from the stand or doing demonstrations the look and feel will be very different to a corporate meet the buyers stand.
What type of exhibition equipment should you go for. A lot depends on budget. First choice is whether you go for a fully custom designed and built exhibition stand or a portable exhibition display. Much of what you could only previously achieve with a custom built exhibition stand can now be achieved for a fraction of the price using portable display system.
The advantages of portable display systems over custom built solutions are:
- Reduce capital cost Portable exhibition display systems are a fraction of the cost of custom built stand
- Your exhibition stand can be used in days rather than weeks.
- Try before you buy You can see and test the exhibition display equipment before you buy.
- Ease of transport.Portable display systems by their definition are design to pack up quickly and be easy to transport.
- Small and lightweight means cheaper shipping costs.
- Lightweight banners stands can be sent to a show by courier or even taken on aircraft.
- Most systems will fit in the boot of a car
- Installation, all systems are chosen for their ease of use. Even the most complex systems are simple to use after the first time and assembly instructions are included.
- Flexibility Choosing the right combinations of stands means you can use the same equipment time and time again regardless of the exhibition space you have available
