New Digital Display Printing Blog

I have just found a useful blog to do with large format printing. There is some great information about using large format printing for exhibition and trade show graphics. Hints and tips on how to design a banner as well as quite a bit of interesting stuff to do with eco friendly display printing. HP have introduced a latex printer and it seems the only by product is water!
Check it out: http://www.digital-display-printing.co.uk/blog/

Seven Tips for Greener Exhibiting

Here are our top seven tips to lessen the impact your exhibiting and promotional printing has on the environment.

1. Plan Your Exhibit - You will be surprised at how much material, wastage, and most importantly money you can save but planning in advance how much of everything you will need to successfully exhibit. Make a note of all factors such as time, order of setting up your booth, how much promotional material to use, even the most efficient route to get to the venue!

2. Use a Company that Practices Green Printing - as the eco-friendly mindset permeates through the market more and more companies are offering their services for green products. Sometimes they are a bit more expensive, but is worthwhile as it presents your brand as a socially conscious business.

3. Give Customers Incentives Not To Use Materials - a prime example is that of bags, maybe give a customer a discount or access to exclusive content if they choose not to use a bag. An incentive for not using the material is preferable to a punishment for using it, such as a charge for bags as this can leave the customer with a negative experience with your company. Directing customers to a web site instead of giving them a catalogue is another way to decrease the usage of raw materials.

4. Recycled Materials - banners, booths, bags, plastics; just a small selection of products that are now available made from recycled materials. Again this does a positive thing for your brand image.

5. Rent Instead of Buying - there are many companies that offer full trade show booth rentals, which can be used several times. Obviously this limits how much customisation and flexibility you can have on your exhibit, but if you are an infrequent exhibitor this might be the option to go for.

6. Energy Efficient Lighting - lighting can play a big part in your exhibit, but nowadays many energy efficient light bulbs are just as effective as 'normal' ones.  This is one of those small changes that multiplied by the annual exhibitors in the country can make a big difference.

7. Green Giveaways - prizes to win green products, sample of green materials or a prize for a customer reducing their impact on the environment. Build up customer loyalty and improve your company's image.

Chicago Streets Ahead with Lamppost Banner Auctions

Came across a novel idea regarding PVC advertising banner "recycling" where some lateral thinking has resulted in the city of Chicago auctioning street and lamppost banners to the public. The annual “Sharing It” banner auction, which benefits the needy, has seen banners from public events been sold to raise money for charities within the city.
One highlight was the sale of a Chicago White Sox 2005 World Series Championship street banner, which was sold for $515. This was from their world series run and was signed by pitcher Mark Buehrle aka 'Mr. Perfect'.
The live auction sells street pole banners produced by the city and other organizations that promote events, festivals, exhibitions & special occasions and theatre.
Other highlights from this year’s auction are Blackhawks playoff banners signed by Hall of Famers Stan Mikita and Denis Savard, Jersey Boys and Dirty Dancing banners courtesy of Broadway in Chicago and from the Museum of Science & Industry, banners highlighting the Harry Potter exhibit.

I'm not sure if anyone would start something like that here in the UK but until they do another option of course is to opt for an eco-friendly PVC free recyclable banners and reduce the harm banner printing has on the environment.

A Guide To Choosing The Perfect Roller Banner

When choosing a banner stand system you will see many different options, including roller banner stands, and your first question will probably be "What exactly is a roller banner stand?". Simply put it is a system for displaying and transporting graphic banners for displays and promotions in retail outlets, trade shows and at events. The principle is very similar to a roller blind, with the roller banner being inside a protective case that also acts as a base so the unit can be free standing. Unlike a blind however, the roller banner is pulled up rather than down so it needs a pole to hold it up.

The main benefits of roller banners over other banner stand types are:
- They are easy to transport
- The graphics are protected
- Banners are free standing
- No tools are required

As with banner stand having different options, there are also different types of roller banners. As far as functionality is concerned there are two main differences, with two options for each feature choice.
The first option is the type of base used on the stand. You have options for stands with fold out feet or ones with a larger footprint that dont require feet. The fold out feet type of roller banner tend to be cheaper and a little less stable, but smaller for easy transportation.
Roller banner stands can also be divided into changeable graphics and fixed graphics systems. Fixed graphics again are cheaper and normally just have the graphics stuck to the roller unit, replaceable graphic systems have either a slide in graphic or a changeable casette. Changable casette systems are the most expensive but by far the easiest to use if your marketing message needs to change alot.

What issues should you look for when buying a roller banner stand?
Obviously roller banners have moving parts so you need to be careful you don't get to a show and find it is broken. Problems I have seen in the past include:
 - The top bar coming off and the banner rolls up inside
the cassette
- The springs inside break and the system loses tension
- The spring units locks and the banner won't come out
- The spring does not have enough tension to hold the banner taught
- The pole at the back holding the banner up breaks

It's tricky when choosing a roller banner stand as many of these units look very similar online and it's only when you compare them side by side you can see where the money has been saved. My advice; spend a little more and make sure you get a reliable roller banner.

Just a quick note on graphics, it won't surprise you to learn that not all graphics are the same either. Two things to consider are the print quality and the materials used.
In regards to print quality this varies hugely depending on the equipment used; large format printng machines range in price from a few thousand up to well over a million. Printers also set up and run their machines at different speeds. My advice is to choose a reputable company with experience who have thier own printing workshop in-house rather than one that's subs it out.
There will be more about large formt print on the blog in future.

If you've gone through this article to find out more about roller banner stands and decided they don't fit your requirements you have many other options available. The most obvious solution is if there is a wall or side of a shell scheme system then your graphics can be attached to them without the need for any type of banner stand.
If thats not possible and you need some sort of stand the alternative to a roller banners is some sort of tensioned pole stand, in which case the banner and banner stand would be seperate. You put up the stand then attach your banner. Once they are up they look very similar to roller banners.
The advantages of a pole banner stand is that there are no moving bits to go wrong and on the whole they are cheaper than roller units. Its also easier to change the graphics without having to go to the expense of having a replacable cassette roller banner.

I hope this guide has helped clear a few things up about both roller banners and the options you have available  to display your graphics.

Making Light Work With Handtrucks

There's nothing worse than when you get to a trade show with a boot full of gear and you have to park miles from the exhibition hall.

It's at times like this you wish you invested in a folding hand truck or for bulkier items a folding platform trolley. Both are lightweight and have the benefit of fitting in the boot of your car.

The other day at a show I saw a nifty idea of a combined hand trolley and step ladder. The fold out platform will take up to 90kg, so it's ideal for all those heavy boxes of literature or brochures.

Where it really scored over the traditional hand trucks was the step ladder. There are 101 things you need to reach on an exhibition stand and sods law there wont be a step ladder in sight.

The combined steps and trolley would be ideal on any exhibition stand whether it's for hanging graphics on your pop up stand or attaching spot lights to a shell scheme. After a bit of searching I found the product at www.discounthandtrucks.com.

They have two step and three step versions but for most exhibition application I can think of two steps would be fine.

Successful Open Day for Case Management Jobs

Our friends at Discount Displays recently helped launch a new recruitment business involved in the growing case management market.
Case Management Jobs is the brainchild of Peter Morgan of Morgansearch, a veteran of the health market recruitment business in the UK.

Morgan explained “The concept of case management originated in the USA and it is now widely used in many countries including Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand and we think it is set to grow in the UK.
Case management is the process of planning, implementing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the health and social care needs of individuals, often those who have a serious, complex or long-term injury or illness.
Peter wanted to do a little more than send out email shots or flyers so decided to hold a golf day for existing and prospective customers involved in case management recruitment throughout the UK .

Morgan had already had positive feedback from the case management society UK and felt an event would give him an informal day to launch his new concept and get feedback from potential companies looking to recruit case managers.
Having used discountdisplays in the past to produce exhibition stands peter gave them a brief for the golf day. The focus needed to be on case manager recruitment in the health care market. Banner stands, feather flags and golf tee signs were used to promote the event. Morgan said everyone had a great day and it gave us a chance to get feedback on our case management jobs web site which was very encouraging, I think we are on to a winner.

Exhibition Equipment Trade Supplier Review

Came across a new trade exhibition stand and display stand supplier Expolite. They seem to have a few products that are different from the regular exhibiton and display stand suppliers in the UK.

I particularly I liked the range of retractable barriers and crowd control rope and stanchions. Great value for money for the quality you are getting. They wouldn't say where they were imported from but the quality of the retractable barriers was far greater than the usual products on the market from China.
The retractable belt barriers have stainless steel posts and bases with a very smooth belt barrier. I would say the quality was equal to that of a Tensator but without the price tag.
The other product they are know for is the y-band outdoor banner stand which you may have seen at outdoor events. Made it clear that for the banner stand to work the way it has been designed it's important to fill the base with water.
I sent them an email about their trade only policy and was assured that they only deal through approved UK dealers and wont sell direct to the end user.

Smaller than the big boys but still worth a vist for the quality of display stands and the value for money.

PVC advertising banners - Hints and tips PART 1

Summer is well and truly upon us and fetes, sports events and garden shows need to capitalise on the weather and attract customers to their events. One of the most popular and cost effective ways is to use printed PVC banners. Despite new material on the marketplace by far the most popular are PVC banners. PVC banner material also know as vinyl is strong, cheap and totally weather proof.
If you type PVC banners UK or vinyl banners UK into google you will see a huge range of companies offering pvc banner printing.

For example:

BANNERS FOR ALL - Banners, Vinyl Banners, PVC Banners, Sign Banner ...We produce quality printed PVC and Textile Banners,Feather Flags and Sail Banners. Sail banners - Digital Vinyl PVC Banners - Vinyl PVC Banners. www.bannersforall.co.uk/ - Cached - Similar

Online Design Tools For Personalized Banners, Best Poster Design ... - Our PVC banners are also popular as sports event banners, ... Whatever you requirements or specifications,
www.quickstepdesign.com/ - Cached - Similar

advertising banner - printed pvc advertising banners vinyl - advertising banner - pre printed in stock Sale banners from discount displays. PVC vinyl advertising banner.

Confusing isn't it? So how do you choose? Most people think a banner is a banner is a banner, but since yours is going to be an advert for your company or event you want it to look good and last the course.

As with most things cheapest may not be the best. When you look at material the questions to ask when your looking for a banner printer are:

Is the material reinforced?
What weight is it?
How are the edges finished?
Does it allow any show-through?
Is it Fire retardant?
What are the eyelets made of?

Reinforced material is essential unless you just want a very short term small indoor banner. The PVC banner material has a nylon weave fused into it which prevents it tearing. The heavier the banner the material the stronger it is, the typical weight for an outdoor banner ranges from 300gsm to 500gsm.

Finally how is the material finished? For short term banners people cut corners by having their banner "straight cut" with either plastic or metal eyelets. This is OK if the banner is small, say 6' x 2' or perhaps up against a wall but eventually the eyelets will tear out.

As soon as one eyelet goes the whole banner can look messy and a crucial bit of information such as a telephone number or date may be hidden. The alternative is to spend a little more and go for a banner with turned edges. This is where the outer couple of inches of the banner are turned over giving a double thickness hem. This strengthens the weakest vunerable part of the banner and gives a much better anchor point for the eyelets.

I'll discuss alternate banner materials and printing techniques in my next article.

Advantages of Exhibition Stand Hire

There are several advantages that exhibition stand hire  provides to both first-time trade fair exhibitors and larger companies who are seeking to downsize their trade fair investments while still maintaining a good presence at industry exhibitions.

The first advantage is convenience - Exhibition stand hire can provide you with a large impact without having to invest large sums of money. This is especially useful if you are attending a trade fair for the first time and are not sure of the ROI it will provide you.

The second advantage is flexibility - Exhibition stand hire allows you to customise your exhibit for each trade fair you attend. You can also experiment with size and configuration to see what works best for your schedule of exhibitions.

The third advantage is cost effectiveness -  If you do not attend many trade fairs or have added one or two new ones to your schedule, hiring an exhibition stand can be a cost effective way to make a good impact without spending a lot of money. Exhibition stand hiring is also cost effective for shows that are overseas, saving you substantial amounts on freight charges.

The fourth advantage is extra options - By hiring an exhibition stand, you can probably stretch your trade fair budget to include new options that you might not have otherwise been able to afford.  Dramatic lighting, extra large format graphics, brochure racks and furniture are hire options that can add impact to your trade fair presence.

By working with an experienced exhibition stand vendor like Discount Displays, you can give yourself many more options for hiring a standout exhibition stand.  Discount Displays have a 20,000 sq. foot showroom that features over 90 percent of the exhibition stand products they offer on their website, allowing you to see and compare options that would work best for your trade fairs or exhibitions.

World Cup to transform shop displays across the UK

Retailers in the UK are gearing up to capitalize on the visual merchandising opportunities bought about by the start of the 2010 World Cup this month. The Daily Mail has reported that high street stores estimate a increase in revenue of around £2 billion if England make it to the final in South Africa.

Supermarkets and high street stores across their country are transforming their shop displays as football fever grips the nation. Many big brands, such as Mars, have already launched limited edition England products to tie in with these displays. According to price comparison site Kelkoo, retailers from the big four – Tesco, Sainsbury, Morrisons and Asda – to electrical chains and even home supply stores hope to see a boost in their sales.

The grocery sector will likely see the biggest seasonal change in its retail display strategies. Food and drink is the largest single area of expenditure that will benefit from the World Cup, according to Kelkoo’s survey. Sainsbury’s predicts that pint glass and pizza sales will increase by 500%, whilst Tesco has recently produced a pizza bearing the St George’s flag, to make the most of the patriotism sweeping the nation.

Retailers of electrical products will also take advantage though, as sales of high definition or 3D television sets are expected to soar as the tournament continues. One unexpected area of interest is the home supply store; The Mail reports that B&Q owners Kingfisher is to launch a range of products based upon the visual merchandising of the England football strip, from garden gnomes to wheelbarrows and gazebos.

According to Kelkoo, England’s participation in the quarter finals would bump up sales by an additional £332 million even if the team does not reach the final, which would account for a predicted £692 million in sales. Altogether if England won the World Cup, Kelkoo predicts that there would be an overall £2m boost in incremental spend. Good luck to Wayne and the boys!

“Shop displays of beef flout EU regs” warns producers

The National Beef Association has announced that many of the supermarkets in the UK are ignoring EU retail display regulations.

A report in Farming UK quotes the Association as being ‘astonished’ at the widespread disregard of rules on shop displays for beef in the stores of large retailers. They say that many supermarkets are ‘determined’ to carry on displaying beef from different countries in the same retail shelving section.
“Some of the most obvious of the illegal displays are in England,” says NBA chief executive Robert Forster, “where shelf edge promotion loudly proclaims that only British beef is on offer [but] closer investigation reveals that small pockets of beef from the Republic of Ireland, Brazil or Argentina are covered by the same promotion material.”

Forster has stated that this poor visual merchandising “works against the English farmer and the English processor” because retailers mix cheaper imported beef with more expensive domestic products, making the imported beef look more appealing. The NBA says that it also undermines the ability to judge how much consumers are willing to pay for English beef, which often has higher environmental and quality credentials than beef from overseas.

This type of display goes against the advice of the Local Authority Co-Ordination Office on Regulatory Services (LACORS) says Forster. Last year LACORS warned retailers that meat from different countries of origin had to be physically separated within retail shop fittings, and that shop displays which suggested all goods were from a single country of origin must adhere to that standard rigidly.

Strong Exhibition Registration Already Reported for EuroShop 2011

Europe’s largest retail trade fair is already reporting strong exhibitor registration for EuroShop 2011, which will be held 26 Feb. – 2 March, 2011 at the fairgrounds in Dusseldorf, Germany.
According to an Exhibitor Magazine report:
“The current level of exhibitor registrations is almost equal to the registration status of EuroShop 2008 at the same point in time. This is all the more positive since the situation in global retail is rather tense at the moment. Our talks with exhibitors and retail experts show that the position of EuroShop as a leading international trade fair for all investment needs in retail remains strong. Many exhibitors deliberately schedule their product innovations and portfolios according to the EuroShop dates,” stated Wilhelm Niedergöker, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf.
The huge retail trade fair has four distinct exhibition segments:
EuroConcept – which includes shopfitting, store design, lighting, energy-saving refrigeration and air conditioning equipment, the EuroShop Designer Village and the EuroShop Retail Design Conference;
EuroSales – featuring visual merchandising, sales promotion and POS marketing;
EuroCIS – including information and security technology; and
EuroExpo – exhibition stand construction, design and special events.
If your organization is planning to exhibit at EuroShop 2011, it’s not too early to begin organising your exhibition stand design for this industry-leading trade fair.  Pre-planning ensures that you will save both time and money, while providing you with the proper impact you need to stand out at EuroShop 2011.

A Powerful Marketing Campaign That Will Boost Your Sales 30%

It can quickly become a large expense trying to drive targeted customers to your store. You’ll uncover that many advertising methods often lead to spending more money then you make back. Generally the first thoughts are to get on the radio, newspapers and sending postcards. While these are all effective marketing efforts there’s actually an easier method that is very effective and affordable.

Sidewalk signs are affordable and effective. Research proves that sidewalk signs have increased sales up to 30% for businesses everywhere. That’s an amazing and very effective campaign wouldn’t you say?
You can spend thousands of dollars on radio advertisements, close to a thousand on postcard advertising and only spend a couple hundred for a sidewalk sign and it will do a better job.

Now it’s important that you understand this doesn’t meant that you should use this method of advertising as your only means of promotion. As a business owner who wants his or her business to grow you’ll need to take advantage of various marketing methods to reach a larger audience. But why spend thousands when there are no guarantees. Retail Displays Will Increase Your Sales Dramatically If Done Correctly

Finding different methods of promoting items in your store is necessary to constantly keep your business growing. Placing items on retail displays alone is not going to give you the type of results that you are looking to achieve. You’ll need to implement some type of signage if you want to increase the effectiveness of the display.

You don’t need to have a degree in marketing to create a good-looking display that actually works. All that you need is to understand the people that shop at your store. As a business owner you probably already have complete understanding and knowledge of this. For example - what the well-dressed woman is most interested in, or the surfer’s that visit your surf shop. You know what they want, and this is the way that you’re going to capture their attention, along with the use of images on your retail sign.

There are a variety of signs that you can use throughout your store. You’ll find a ton of stores online selling signage. Looking through these sites will help you to get some great ideas on your retail display. There is no lack of quality information.

Make sure that you are writing down the ideas that you get, it’s easier to forget a good idea than it is to think of one. Once you have a list together take your time coming up with the best possible display. An important thing to keep in mind is that this isn’t going to be an expensive method of advertising, so if you find it’s not as effective as you had hoped you can always go back and try again. Once you find the one that works it will be worth every effort.

Shopping online for your retail display supplies such as signs or units, you’ll discover that you can save a good amount of money and be surprised at how much choice there is.

Managing Colour in Large Format Printing

Colour management is a key component in producing excellent large format printed graphics.  Basically, colour management is a quality control process that allows large format printers to achieve consistency in colour matching between each stage of the printing process – from scan to final print.

In working with a qualified large format printing company like Discount Displays, there are some things you can do to ensure you get the colour quality you desire:

Colour images must be saved as CMYK, not RGB, Scitex CT or PICT images. Coloured elements such as type and backgrounds should have an assigned CMYK Colour.

Send a colour proof along with any colour matches you require or request proofs: we can provide you with a machine proof for a small additional fee.   It is not always possible to match pantone colours using CMYK printers. Our printers and media are carefully calibrated but if no colour proof is supplied or machine proof is requested we can only print what is supplied on disk.

If you use Pantone colours in a CMYK job our equipment will automatically convert the colour at the printer, and the result is generally good. Most of these CMYK conversions are very similar, but some, notably very bright colours like lime greens, bright oranges or reds, are less so. If you have access to a Pantone Process Colour book, check these shades first to see if you'll be happy with the result.  Other Pantone colours such as fluorescents or metallics can't be reproduced at all.  This is true of any CMYK output, either digital or conventional 4 colour printing.

Some customers provide us with images that have been downloaded from the Internet, which are generally low resolution images intended for screen viewing, not printing. These will always print out poorly, so avoid using them if at all possible.

For more tips on artwork preparation and what you can do to make sure your large format printing project is done to your exact specification, visit our website or call on 0844 800 1020.

Print Durability in Large Format Printing

Durability and display permanence are important qualities when choosing a large format printing vendor.  A large format printer’s ability to provide print durability is primarily a function of the investment they have made in state-of-the-art printing equipment.

For example, Discount Displays is a leading large format printer that has invested heavily in the latest printing technology from industry leader HP.  According to HP:

Durability generally relates to how well the colorant binds to the print medium and the resistance of the print medium to deterioration under conditions of use.  Colorant durability can be characterized by the resistance of a printed image to water and to rubbing, abrasion, and smearing when the print is cleaned with wipes and common chemicals (especially important for vehicle graphics).  Durability also considers resistance of the image to cracking as the print is bent, folded, or stretched.

Display permanence, sometimes called fade resistance or lightfastness, characterizes the change in color and optical density of the image under exposure to light, particularly sunlight and sources of ultraviolet (UV) light.  Display permanence measures the time required for colors to change by a specified amount under standardized conditions such as display in-window, outdoors, “indoors behind glass away from direct sunlight”, etc.  These are reference conditions used for comparative purposes between ink technologies and between specific inks on specific media within a technology.  Display permanence is often specified with and without lamination for prints displayed in direct sunlight in-window or outdoors.

HP designs and tests all of its ink and large-format media combinations for optimal durability, realizing that different applications require different test requirements:

Indoor – home and office display: A typical application example is HP photo prints, tested to ensure image permanence under common indoor lighting and environmental conditions. HP uses both state-of-the-art internal labs (HP’s Image Permanence Lab) and Wilhelm Imaging Research (WIR) to produce these results.

Indoor – commercial in-window display: Often HP prints are displayed in a window receiving partial or direct sunlight likely to increase the degree and rate of image fading. HP Image Permanence Lab testing accounts for this difference from home and office conditions with methodologies designed specifically for in-window display conditions.

Outdoor display: Signs, banners, billboards, and other outdoor applications are often subjected to harsher environmental factors than typical indoor and in-window display prints. The HP Image Permanence Lab tests according to industry-leading standards, and exposes print samples in real-life conditions at multiple test sites to account for a range of environmental conditions including temperature, humidity, light and dark, and spray.

Water resistance: Prints can be damaged when exposed to water or by handling when wet. However, many Original HP ink and media combinations produce high-quality, water-resistant prints. HP tests water resistance performance characteristics most important to customers, using ISO and internally developed tests, and considers prints which pass the following tests to be water resistant: ISO Standing Water, Water Spray, Water Drip, and Wet Smudge.

Qualified lamination solutions: While specific HP ink and media combinations are designed to provide good overall durability and scratch resistance, many customers apply laminates to further protect the surface of valuable prints. HP has developed excellent partnerships and qualification programs for film as well as liquid laminates to ensure that the final, finished print meets the demands of the customer.

Reasons to Invest in a New Trade Fair Exhibition Stand

Is your current exhibition stand doing the job you need it to do?  Here are some reasons to consider investing in a new one:

Your current exhibition stand is showing its age.  If your exhibition stand is being held together with patches of duct tape, clearly shows areas that have been painted over to hide scratches and has more than its fair share of dents, it is time to invest in a new one.

Your messaging has changed.  If your exhibition stand is out of step with your other marketing messaging, then it is time to invest in a new one.  Or at the very least, to update your graphics.

You need more flexibility.  Does your exhibition stand fit one size only?  Perhaps it started out big but the economy has shrunk your space so you need a smaller display.  Or perhaps you started out small but the company has gotten bigger, and you need a larger presence at your trade fairs.

You need portability.  If your exhibition stand was designed for shipment to your trade fair sites but now your sales team needs to exhibit at smaller shows, then you may want to consider investing in portable exhibition stands.

You need more than one.  If there are too many demands being placed on your current exhibition stand, you may want to invest in another one or consider exhibition stand rental.

Your shipping costs are too high.  If your exhibition stand weighs too much and the shipping costs are eating a larger portion of your budget, you may want to get a new exhibition stand made of lightweight materials.

Whatever the reason for considering a new exhibition stand, Discount Displays can help you find the right trade fair solution for your company.  Our showroom has both standard and customized products on display and our exhibition stand experts are available to help you design and execute a new exhibition stand solution that will fit your needs today.

Discover The Power With Pavement Signs

Pavement signs should be something that every business owner incorporates into their marketing efforts. They're the perfect way to tell everyone that passes by about your current sale promotion, new products or services or anything else imaginable.

Pavement signs or sidewalk signs are used right outside the door of your store. These full color-advertising boards serve one purpose and this is to get that passer-by to come into your store and take advantage of your current sale.

There are many different styles that you’ll have to choose from. It can be a simple cardboard sign, a swinging board or a number of other types. You should go online and begin looking at your options. This will help to give you some ideas on what your company would benefit from the most. Another option to get some ideas is to go to the local shopping center.

Keep in mind that if you rush to put any type of advertisement together there is a good chance it will not be successful. You need to take your time and think about what your customers are looking for, and how to give them just that. This cannot be done on a whim. Although the cost for this method of advertising is affordable and you can test a few different ad’s to find the one that works the best, it would be to take the time necessary to create a successful campaign.

There are so many different styles and sizes of pavement signs to choose from you may feel a bit overwhelmed. Don’t worry; just take your time looking at your options. Go online and look at your choices and begin thinking about what your customers want and put it all together. In just a few days you’ll begin seeing a difference in your sales and begin wondering why you didn’t do this sooner.

Advertising Is Important For Any Business

In order to sell your products or services you’re going to need to advertise. The type of advertising that you’ll choose is often a difficult decision. You have so many different choices, costs and each offer different types of results. Learning more about your choices will help you to determine the best, based on your specific needs and budget.

Most new companies want to start off with a small advertising budget to uncover the most effective campaign. This is a good decision, and one of the best choices would be outdoor and interior signs. Outdoor signs are perfect to catch the attention of people passing by. You have choices of banners, pavement signs, billboards and more. Interior signs would be used for the inside of your store to promote specific brands or products.
Both outdoor and interior signs are affordable and very effective. There have been studies done on their success, which showed that this type of advertising offers a 30% increase in sales for most companies in the study. You won’t get this type of success rate from most advertising methods, especially not when you are paying practically nothing.

Choosing just any type of outdoor sign or interior sign will not ensure its ultimate success. You’ll need to take your time to determine the best one for your specific needs. First you should think about the location of your store - are you in a shopping mall, do you have a decent amount of traffic passing your store? If so you may want to consider sidewalk signs. These are placed outside of the door of your store. Banners are the best choice for buildings, fences and other areas.

Designing your sign whether outdoor or interior will need to be done with the customer in mind. The only way to effectively capture the attention of the customer is to give them something that they want. This involves understanding your market; it’s the key factor into developing a successful campaign.

Learn more about the different types of signs that you have to choose from and determine which one would be the best for your business.

Making Your Retail Displays Sell

Retail displays are a sales promotional tool that will help you to sell more items and ultimately increase your profits. There are a number of ways that you can setup your display. The first is to begin incorporating retail signs on your display whether it’s a table or floor stand. You will dramatically increase your efforts and strengthen your brand.

Let’s take a look at the different options that you have when it comes to retail displays.
The first are floor stands. These can be used anywhere on the floor and can include a variety of products in various categories. Another option would be counter displays, these are perfect for displaying compulsive buys at the point of purchase. Lastly are retail signs. This method often has a high impact on product branding and when you combine this with the two previously listed you will create a highly effective display that is both eye-catching and informative.

One of the biggest problems most companies are faced with is deciding on which product or products that they should use in their retail display. The best way to determine this is first by considering the theme of your store, then understanding your customers and figuring out what they would most likely want to buy. Electronic stores would want to display batteries or other smaller commonly used items that many people forget about until they see them.

Just remember to take your time thinking about this. The more thought you put into this the better the results. You can always change the products and uncover which products are selling best when displayed this way. Take a trip to your competition and get some great ideas.

Choosing the type of display – floor, table or signage is a personal decision. It is suggested that you incorporate signs along with your floor display and table displays to increase their effectiveness.

Learn How To Correctly Use PVC Banners To Increase Business Dramatically

One of the best ways for you to introduce a new product or service is through some sort of signage. There are many for you to choose from – indoor and outdoor signs, PVC signage, sidewalk signs and point of sale signs. Retail signs are an effective method to increase your sales for any given product or service.
When you are trying to decide on the type of sign that you want to use to help increase your sales it’s important that you first think about where you’ll get the most attention. Outdoor signage is often an effective method of advertising. You can use sidewalk signs outside of your store for busy locations, such as a main street, or a shopping center.

There are some things that you’ll need to keep in mind when you are purchasing outdoor signs. The material must be durable to endure the weather conditions. You’ll find that a large amount of the material is designed for indoor and outdoor use. The special coating on the finished product will prevent it against wear and tear, such as natural weather conditions including the UV rays.

PVC canvas banners offer exceptional strength and durability. They are entirely water resistant and weather resistant. They are also an effective marketing strategy and affordable.
You can probably think of a number of good reasons to custom design PVC banners, whether it’s to beat out your competition, promote a sale item or reducing the cost of advertising while increasing your exposure.
You can design your own PVC banner signage on your computer, but it’s probably best if you leave it up to the professionals that understand the ways to catch the eyes and entice all that see the sign to come in and shop at your store.

Using Social Media for Trade Fair Promotion

Many organizations already have fully integrated social media programs as part of their marketing mix; some do not -- but both can use social media to do effective pre- and onsite trade fair promotion.

Pre-show promotion

According to comScore’s World
Metrix audience measurement service, the most popular social media sites in the UK (May 2009) are Facebook and Bebo, with Twitter and MySpace not far behind.

If you already have a robust social media program, then
pre-trade fair promotion will be a relatively easy task for you. Simply provide the details about where your followers can find your trade fair exhibition stand during an upcoming show, and feed them information about any special product introductions or other promotions you’ll be doing during the exhibition.

If you do not current have an ongoing social media program, don’t worry – it’s easy to join the group!  On
Facebook you can create a Fan Page for your business and post photos of your exhibition stand and your products.  Many trade fairs have their own pages on Facebook that you can add your comments to as well to encourage visitors to come see you.  You can also use Facebook’s low-cost advertising option, search for groups using your industry keywords and promote directly to those users.

Promoting during the show

Since most attendees will have their smartphones with them on the show floor, you can promote your presence during the show through Facebook, Bebo and Twitter. Create messages that provide a powerful incentive for them to visit your exhibition stand – like an important new product introduction, speaker or celebrity appearance, or contest – and you can drive traffic every day of the exhibition.

Another way to increase trade show traffic is by having an exhibition stand that delivers an engaging marketing message – something you can obtain easily by contacting Discount Displays on 0844 800 1020 or by visiting our
website.

Big Ideas for Small Spaces

If you’ve had to reduce the amount of space you usually take up at your industry trade fairs and exhibitions, here are some ideas for getting that smaller space to make a big impact:

Build Up, Not Out – if your space is small, go tall. Tall structures within your space will make your booth appear – and feel – larger.

A Good Reflection – an old interior design trick, incorporating mirrors into your exhibition stand design is a sure way to create the illusion of space without actually having it.

Less is More – having an uncluttered exhibition stand design makes your smaller space appear larger. Keeping your trade fair booth space relatively empty will make it feel much more open and spacious than if you clutter it with product displays.

Add Overhead – things will be looking up for your smaller booth if you hang graphics from the ceiling above it, allowing you to claim all the space your exhibition stand needs to shine.

Lighten Up – using lighter colours in your exhibition stand design will open your space up. Research shows that light colours reflect light back to the eye, which your brain then interprets as a larger space.

The new Discount Displays Express site focuses on retail, exhibiting and trade shows, helping organizations make a big impression no matter what size of exhibition stand they require. Our staff designers love a challenge – so if you have one, bring it to us.

Explore all the possibilities by visiting Discount Displays Express.

How to Choose a Reliable Exhibition Stand and Graphics Supplier

How to Choose a Reliable Exhibition
Stand and Graphics Supplier

We know that many marketing managers
and retailers want and need a reliable, economical source for obtaining
exhibition equipment such as banner stand displays, retail displays, outdoor event gear and large format printing.
Too often, cheap prices mean no service. So how can you confidently
select a supplier who will stand up to your expectations for quality,
price and service? Here are some questions to ask vendors:

How do you arrive at your pricing?
Believe it or not, we have been told in the past that we’re too cheap!
Clients can't believe that the quality is as good as our competitors
who may charge three times as much for exactly the same equipment. There's
no magic involved in Discount Displays’ pricing. We keep tight control
of our costs, buy in bulk and have a small sales force. The result?
You get a fast reliable service offering quality products (our frames
are backed by a 6 year guarantee) at rock bottom prices. If you
see cheaper prices ask why. How are the graphics printed? What inks
are used? Where is the stand made? Will the graphics have a good fit?
Is the printing in house?

Do you offer a lowest price guarantee?
We keep a close eye on the competition and make a simple promise: If
you find the same product elsewhere for less, prove it and we will beat
it.

Who are your current clients?
Look for a supplier that has consistently been chosen by brands
that demand quality. We have continually been chosen against stiff
competition by the most demanding of clients including many well-known
high street names for major nationwide contracts. (Marks and Spencer,
Thomas Cook, De beers, etc.) as well as local government, Schools and
Charities in the UK and overseas. You can view our full product range
at our Showroom in Croydon.

What warranty do you offer?
You want a supplier that stands behind the product they sell.
Our business has been built over the last 17 years on repeat work so
our stands have to be totally reliable and trouble-free. Our display
equipment is carefully sourced to offer the very best value for money
and durability. Our stand warranty covers manufacturing defects rather
than operator damage.

Do you offer discounts for quantity?

The answer here should be yes. We're unbeatable on large quantities.
A couple of recent projects have included a nationwide delivery of 350
Roll-Up displays for Marks and Spencer and 450 Eco Rollas for Thomas
Cook.

What are your delivery times?
Look for a vendor who has the capability and desire to meet your deadlines.
Unlike many of our competitors, we hold stock so many standard products
are available off the shelf. Customised take a little longer -- about
7 days – but can be provided sooner in some instances.

What quality are your graphics?
You want to be sure your graphics are printed using high quality digital
ink jet technology and the very best branded inks and media (HP and
3M). We print images on 600-micron polyester with a scratch resistant
durable matt laminate seal for a hardwearing finish.
